Chu Qinghe, an 18-year-old freshman who had just graduated from high school abroad, was arrested on the street when she returned to China for the summer vacation. The arresters found 1.2kg of white powder in her bag.
During the interrogation, Chu Qinghe argued that this was "special-effect protein powder" she brought for her best friend and that she had no knowledge of the drugs. The arresting officers ignored her excuse and took her into custody.
The arresting officers arranged for Chu Qinghe to confront a buyer, but the two did not know each other. The investigators concluded that they were both victims of deception by overseas drug lords.
Despite this, in the subsequent court verdict, the judge believed that Chu Qinghe had carried a huge amount of drugs and was the only principal criminal in the country. He sentenced him to death and was executed immediately without the possibility of appeal. After hearing the verdict, Chu Qinghe collapsed on the ground.
After returning to the cell, Chu Qinghe was put on a 48-pound heavy-duty death shackles and handcuffs. He cried loudly because of his emotional breakdown and was strangled with a mouth rope.
At the public sentencing meeting a few days later, the judge read out the death sentence again. Afterwards, she was removed from the shackles and put on the death penalty rack, crying in despair on the way to the execution ground.
When he arrived at the execution ground, Chu Qinghe collapsed on the ground and was so frightened that he became incontinent. He was then executed by firing squad.
